Applesauce Cookies

1 c shortening or butter
2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 c applesauce
3 1/2 c flour
2 tsp soda
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c raisins and/or chocolate chips

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.

Cream shortening/butter and sugar. Add eggs, applesauce, then remaining dry ingredients gradually, by hand. Drop onto cookie sheet, bake for 10 minutes.

Time to make: ~15 minutes
