Best Chocolate Cake
Cake
2 c flour
2 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
1 c water
1/2 c oil
3 Tbsp cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 c buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
Frosting
1/2 c butter
2 Tbsp cocoa
1 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
For cake batter, bring butter, water, oil, and cocoa to a boil. Stir flour, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl, then pour hot liquid into dry ingredients and mix together until smooth.
In separate bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla. Pour a little of the hot mixture into the egg mixture to temper it, then pour all the egg mixture into the hot. Pour into a greased, floured 9×13″ pan, then bake for 30-40 minutes.
While cake is baking, heat and thoroughly mix frosting ingredients until smooth. Frost cake right out of the oven and then refrigerate.
