Red Cake
Cake
yellow cake mix & any ingredients it calls for
2 Tbsp cocoa
2 Tbsp red food coloring
½ tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp oil
1 1/2 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp baking soda
Icing
1/2 c butter (1 stick)
1/2 c Crisco
1 c white granulated sugar
3/4 c milk (warm, not hot)
1 tsp Vanilla
Pre-heat oven to 375°F.
Mix together cake mix and the ingredients it calls for, with cocoa, red food coloring, vanilla, and oil. Beat for 5 minutes. In a small bowl, mix vinegar and baking soda, then stir it into the batter and beat for one more minute. Pour into cake pan and bake for 25 minutes.
For icing: Blend butter and Crisco on low speed. Add sugar gradually; when completely blended add milk a little at a time. Add Vanilla, then turn speed to high until peaks form.
