{"id":129,"date":"2009-09-02T00:40:36","date_gmt":"2009-09-02T00:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/groo.wordpress.com\/?p=129"},"modified":"2009-09-02T00:40:36","modified_gmt":"2009-09-02T00:40:36","slug":"creamed-tuna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groo.4ever.family\/recipes\/2009\/09\/02\/creamed-tuna\/","title":{"rendered":"Creamed Tuna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->\u00bc C butter<br \/>\n\u00bc C flour<br \/>\n2-3 C milk<br \/>\n2 cans tuna in water, not drained<br \/>\n\u00be cups frozen petite peas<br \/>\nsalt &amp; pepper to taste<br \/>\n1\u00bd lb pasta (shell pasta is best) <\/p>\n<p>Cook pasta in salted water. Drain pasta when it is not quite al dente. <\/p>\n<p>While pasta cooks, melt the butter over med-low heat in a large skillet and slowly whisk in flour. Let roux simmer about a minute, then slowly add 2 cups milk. Bring just to a boil, stir in tuna with its water. Return to boil and slowly add a more milk until mixture is the consistency of thin gravy. Add salt &amp; pepper, then turn heat to low.  When pasta is done and drained, return it to the pot and add tuna mixture, stirring to combine. Stir in peas. <\/p>\n<p>Yields: 8-12 servings<\/p>\n<p>Time to make: 30-40 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Source: Pamela Peterson<\/p>\n<p>Note: For a delicious tuna casserole, pour mixture into a 3+ quart baking dish and spread ~2 cups grated cheddar cheese over the top. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake in a pre-heated oven at 350\u00b0F for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling.
