{"id":1952,"date":"2011-09-19T19:39:41","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T02:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/groo.wordpress.com\/?p=1952"},"modified":"2020-07-02T15:40:41","modified_gmt":"2020-07-02T22:40:41","slug":"tomato-basil-bliss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groo.4ever.family\/recipes\/2011\/09\/19\/tomato-basil-bliss\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomato Basil Soup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->\u00bd onion, chopped<br \/>\n6 Tablespoons butter<br \/>\n2 ounces fresh basil leaves<br \/>\n1 teaspoon minced garlic<br \/>\n\u00bd cup sun dried tomatoes<br \/>\nup to 1 cup shredded or chopped veggies<br \/>\n2 Tablespoons olive oil from sun dried tomatoes<br \/>\n2 pounds peeled &amp; diced tomatoes (canned, fresh, or combination)<br \/>\n2 cups tomato soup or juice<br \/>\n1 cup chicken broth<br \/>\nA dash of nutmeg<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon thyme<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon oregano<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon marjoram<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon dried basil<br \/>\n3 Tablespoon honey<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\na dash of white pepper and\/or red pepper flakes<br \/>\nFresh ground black pepper to taste<br \/>\n2 cups half &amp; half or heavy cream<\/p>\n<p>Saut\u00e9 onions in butter long and low, until caramelized.  Add remaining ingredients except dairy and simmer for at least 1 hour.  Use a stick blender to puree mixture or process small batches in a blender; stir in dairy, then simmer another 30 minutes or so to heat through.
