Take off stove and let cool.<br>Add 4 C flour, scant tsp salt, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp soda (dissolve soda in a little hot water). .<br>Mix all well together.<br>Bake in a greased, floured pan for 1 hour. Mod oven 350\u2109.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candied fruit may be added if you wish to make a more festive cake.<br>May be either plain or frosted with icing.
