{"id":737,"date":"2009-09-24T17:42:43","date_gmt":"2009-09-24T17:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/groo.wordpress.com\/?p=737"},"modified":"2009-09-24T17:42:43","modified_gmt":"2009-09-24T17:42:43","slug":"scandinavian-almond-pastry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groo.4ever.family\/recipes\/2009\/09\/24\/scandinavian-almond-pastry\/","title":{"rendered":"Scandinavian Almond Pastry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><strong>Dough<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\/2 c cold butter<br \/>\n1 c sifted flour<br \/>\n2 Tbsp cold water<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spread<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\/2 c butter<br \/>\n1 c water<br \/>\n1 Tbsp almond flavoring<br \/>\n1 c flour<br \/>\n3 eggs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topping<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 batch butter frosting<br \/>\nalmond extract<br \/>\nsliced almonds<\/p>\n<p>Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.<\/p>\n<p>To make dough: cut butter into flour with knives or pastry cutter.  With a fork, gently add cold water.  Pat into 3 strips, 12&#215;3&#8243; in size, 3&#8243; apart on a cookie sheet.  Set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a saucepan, begin spread by heating butter, water, and almond flavoring.  Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in flour until smooth.  When mixture is lukewarm, add eggs, one at a time, mixing until smooth after each one.<\/p>\n<p>Pour and smooth cooled spread over pastry dough.  Bake for 60 minutes, or until top is crisp and brown.  Add a tiny amount of almond extract to butter frosting and spread over pastry right out of the oven.
