It is great on a variety of veggies, meat, and &#8211; of course &#8211; macaroni.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc C butter<br \/>\n\u00bc C flour<br \/>\n~2 C milk<br \/>\n~2 C grated cheddar cheese<br \/>\nsalt to taste<br \/>\npepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>Place softened butter in a wide pot or saucier over low heat. As butter begins to melt, sprinkle in the flour, a little at a time. Using a whisk to blend will give you best results.<\/p>\n<p>When all of the flour is incorporated into the butter, you have a roux. Turn the heat up to medium. Add the milk, about \u00bc cup at a time, stirring slowly but continuously.  Add the cheese and continue to stir until it is all melted and blended in.<\/p>\n<p>Add salt &amp; pepper to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Serve over hot buttered pasta.<\/p>\n<p>Yields: 6-8 servings<\/p>\n<p>Time to make: 15 &#8211; 20 min<\/p>\n<p>Source: Grandma Gayle (submitted by Angela Peterson Hoffman)<\/p>\n<p>Notes: For creamy, delicious Baked Macaroni &amp; Cheese: Cook 12 oz large elbow noodles to just shy of al dente, mix in one batch of Cheese Sauce, pour all that into a casserole dish &amp; sprinkle grated cheese on top.
